A big thank you to all of my readers who have taken the time to put a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Authors love reviews. We are constantly seeking them – asking for you to give us a bit of your time and opinions. Reviews help us with the promotion of our books. But more importantly, they also connect us with our readers. We find out what our readers like and dislike about our writing. It helps us improve. Have you recently read a book that touched you in some way? Please consider giving the author your opinion. Yes, we do care what you think. And we thank you.

For me – the best thing about self-publishing is – I get to own it.
For me – the worst thing about self-publishing is – I get to own it. My latest novel, Hush Girl: It’s Only a Dream, has given me both – the best and the worst. The best – has come from all of those who have told me they didn’t want to put my book down once they started reading. The worst – has been the discovery that Hush Girl has an abundance of proofreading errors. I blundered in editing Hush Girl. One or two goofs are acceptable, but there are more than a few. Therefore, I’m currently updating Hush Girl. I will be feasting on a large slice of humble pie, while I correct many of the errors I missed. Should I have edited my own work, or had it professional edited? I don’t know. I’ve done both. The Rocking Horse was my first novel. It was professionally edited. Even though it won an Honorable Mention in Writer’s Digest 20th Annual Book Awards and received great reviews, I still received criticism for its editing. So, I edited Never Waste Tears myself. I never heard the same editing criticism. It received an indie B.R.A.G. Medallion and was a semi-finalist in the Kindle Book Review competition. I don’t like to make mistakes any more than the next person. But, I am trying to use this one as a big learning opportunity. I loved telling Nicki’s story and many of those who’ve read it said they loved it too. I will bring her back after I make the needed corrections. I’m sure I’ll never catch all of the mistakes, but Hush Girl will continue to be all mine, and I will own it. |
